I recently spent a lovely New Year's getaway at the Old Barn, tucked away in the serene village of Penmark, near Barry. Arriving late, we were graciously accommodated by our welcoming host and managed to find easily enough parking nearby. The charm of the converted 17th-century barn captured my heart-exposed beams and cozy stucco walls provided a unique character that only added to the experience. Each morning, we indulged in generous continental breakfasts, fueling our adventures exploring the nearby Cardiff and the beautiful Brecon Beacons. It was especially gratifying to return to the tranquility of the countryside, where the soothing sounds of owls replaced the city's nightlife buzz. The fully-equipped kitchen made it effortless for my family to feel right at home, allowing us to whip up meals together in a space that felt both warm and inviting. For anyone seeking quality accommodations with a touch of Welsh hospitality, the Old Barn is a gem worth discovering!
